# Glossary

These terms are for developers and PostgreSQL operators. The Vietnamese edition uses corresponding product concepts. A language choice does not determine the reader's country, currency or timezone.

| Term | Console/API | Meaning |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Project | Project / `project_id` | Groups branches, computes and ownership. |
| Branch | Branch / `branch_id` | A data/timeline branch that can have a parent and deletion protection. |
| Compute | Compute / `compute_id` | A PostgreSQL runtime attached to a branch. |
| Database | Database | A database inside PostgreSQL; distinct from a project. |
| Role | Role | A PostgreSQL identity/privilege set; separate from the console user. |
| CU | Compute Unit | Compute sizing unit; not money or CPU percentage. |
| Snapshot | Snapshot / Backup | A data/timeline recovery point under the service's supported restore behavior. |
| Schema | Schema | A SQL namespace or object structure, depending on context. |
| Schema diff | Schema diff | Structural comparison; does not automatically merge or run migrations. |
| Scope | Scope | The personal or project boundary of a key. |
| Read-only | Read-only | Changes are disallowed at the layer being described. |
| Ready | Ready | A runtime/API condition; still verify your application's connection. |
