# What is PG Next?

PG Next is a PostgreSQL control plane at [pgnext.dev](https://pgnext.dev). Organize data into projects, create branches to test changes, and use computes to run PostgreSQL. The console supports English and Vietnamese.

## Choose a starting point

- New to the service? [Create your first project](/getting-started/first-project/).
- Already have a running compute? [Connect an application or psql](/guides/connect/).
- Working with an AI assistant? [Set up MCP](/integrations/mcp/).
- Something failed? [Find troubleshooting steps](/reference/troubleshooting/).

## Three different resources

| Resource | Purpose |
| --- | --- |
| Project | Groups branches, computes and ownership; selects a PostgreSQL version and region. |
| Branch | A data branch derived from a parent timeline, for development or testing. |
| Compute | The PostgreSQL runtime attached to a branch, with its own lifecycle. |

Creating a project does not make a compute ready. Wait for compute initialization before connecting. See [compute lifecycle](/guides/compute/).

## Documentation scope

Content was checked against source on **22 October 2026**. Email verification and independent computes per branch have recent source changes that require a separate rollout. These docs do not confirm that they are live in production. Each guide explains relevant caveats; see the [capabilities and limitations](/reference/limitations/) table.
