# Sign in and manage your account

Open [Sign in](https://pgnext.dev/login) with your assigned account. Console sessions, PostgreSQL roles/passwords and MCP keys are separate credentials.

## Register when enabled

Current source implements this flow; production rollout must be verified separately:

1. Open [Register](https://pgnext.dev/register) and enter a username, email and password.
2. Usernames contain 1–64 ASCII letters, digits or `._-`. Passwords need at least 8 Unicode characters.
3. When the request is accepted, check your inbox and spam folder. No account has been created yet.
4. Open the email link and select the confirmation button. Opening the URL alone does not consume the token.
5. After verification succeeds, return to sign in.

Registration may be disabled. Email verification creates an ordinary user account; it does not grant admin access or a paid plan. Do not share verification links: they contain single-use tokens.

## Reset a forgotten password

Open [Forgot password](https://pgnext.dev/forgot-password), submit your email and follow the message you receive. The neutral response does not confirm whether an account exists. In current source, reset links expire after one hour and are single-use. Request a new link if one expires.

Changing or resetting a password invalidates old session cookies according to the current source contract. MCP keys have a separate lifecycle. If a key may be exposed, [revoke it separately](/integrations/mcp-keys/).

## Protect your credentials

Do not include passwords or tokens in shared URLs, support screenshots or repositories. Give accounts and tools only the permissions they need. See [access controls](/integrations/access/).
